Peace

John 14:27

Amplified Bible (AMP)

27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

God gives us peace.

DO NOT LET your hearts be troubled or afraid & stop allowing ourselves_________.

So we have a choice.  Self control that is within us.  We can tap into the fruit of the spirit when we choose to.

1 Peter 3:10-11

Amplified Bible (AMP)

10 For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good—whether apparent or not] keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from guile (treachery, deceit).

11 Let him turn away from wickedness and shun it, and let him do right. Let him search for peace (harmony; undisturbedness from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts) and seek it eagerly. [Do not merely desire peaceful relations with God, with your fellowmen, and with yourself, but pursue, go after them!]

We have to pursue, go after them!  Action! Forward!  Movement!  God will not do our part for us.  Relationships are not one sided.

It has always been a pet peeve of mine when I hear someone say oh you need to wait & pray.  God will take care of it.  He does.  No question about it but what about our part?  Isn’t that the missing link with that Christianese phrase?  I really believe that is the kind of stuff that makes the world not interested in Church or people who go there.  I go there & sure am a Christian.  Not slamming just saying what most would rather not.

When I think of Jesus I don’t remember Him ever saying a phrase like that.  He spoke with love & honestly.  He would speak in a way that made people think & grow.  He is mind blowing, interesting and meets us where we are at. I am so thankful for that!

So remember pay attention to your thought & words. Pay attention to others thoughts & words. Pursue peace!
