The video at that link was done by CNN about Brene Brown and her research about Vulnerability.  I recently got her blog emailed to me called : Walking the tightrope: thoughts on vulnerability and hurt  – and she talks about the posting of this video has been less than “ a pleasant experience.”

Talking about vulnerability and being vulnerable isn’t always easy and at times can be quite hurtful.  BUT IT IS WORTH IT?

Brene in the blog was taken back by the cruel and unkind words about her in the comments of the video…they were to be removed.

Watch Brene on TED TV was amazing. She is the reason we decided to do a month thinking about Vulnerability.

It has been eye opening for us.

NONE of us are BULLET PROOF as much as we would like to be.  Wishing to be bulletproof  had for years caused me to want to repress my feelings when I am hurt, pretending that I am untouchable.   It made me want to detach and move on, leaving my feelings behind. ( who needs those anyway when thinking is far more easier to deal with)  But I have found doing this puts me in a kind of round the mountain cycle, where I long to be free to be me but choosing not too enslaves me and sacrifices the real me for the imaginary bulletproof me.

We all hide in some way or another… not saying what we really think, not saying anything just so we can skip the possible rejection, choosing not to share our hearts, living detached, disconnected and lonely.

We have been hiding since the time of Eden when the great disconnection happened – SIN! Christ came to break us out of that bondage and set us free.

Is it time to break out? I think so!

While vulnerability can really bite is worth it to just be the YOU God created you to be!

Vulnerable #3

Have been thinking about the word VULNERABLE all month makes for interesting thoughts. Chewing a word up and seeing what it is made of is good for the understanding. I shot this picture driving through a bridge and while looking at this photo those words just started to flow.

What’s the condition?

“Love is a commitment that will be tested in the most vulnerable areas of spirituality, a commitment that will force you to make some very difficult choices. It is a commitment that demands that you deal with your lust, your greed, your pride, your power, your desire to control, your temper, your patience, and every area of temptation that the Bible clearly talks about. It demands the quality of commitment that Jesus demonstrates in His relationship to us.” ~ Ravi Zacharias

I don’t think I had thought of those things like that before…as spiritual. Of course they are and I know that but I just hadn’t thought of it like that. Just like that.

And …it is true.

These things…

lust, greed, pride, power,

control, temper, patience.

..these all bear proof of what my spiritual condition is.

It is true that LOVE will cause a BREAKING in these areas.

You will either break ….within and pour your life out for another. Or you will break them with your selfishness.

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

The vulnerable part comes ….it always comes. Will we allow the truth to show and choose to be healed by the Light that shines on our dark places or will we run for cover when light comes like a vampire in the sun, seeking our coffins and shadowed lives.

If we do …we could be guilty of SUCKING OTHER PEOPLE DRY for our own benefit.

In which case the testing came and we are shown to be lacking LOVE.

Don’t let perception stop u from being u

Sometimes we think we are too much or not doing things right when someone else disagrees with us. While this may be true if we are in sin….often this is applied to everyday things like if you have someone who drives on to  your property, and this person goes to fast. The way they drive makes you feel nervous about your animals being outside and you just want to say something. But then perhaps your husband thinks its no big deal. The way it comes across is that his perception is

“you are too much or being ridiculous.”  His personality is of the type that does not like to say anything, but for you not saying anything is foreign.  So because of this- you don’t say anything and you worry instead of just saying something to the driver, asking kindly to slow down.

No one is the same …

We all have different ways of doing things.

Rom. 15:22 the faith which you have ( ability to speak out) have as your own conviction ( not what another thinks or has faith enough to do) before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself ( by doing what another’s way is ) in what he approves.

Parenthesis our thoughts

Remember “we all hear/listen and speak differently” We all are different!!

God gave each of us our way –

Walk in Faith that God created you Uniquely . And step out in Faith.

No, sit and spin

You build with concrete.

You dream with ideas.

That’s why you have to step

out on faith and move

to walk into your Dreams

Our quote – pretty good huh? lol
